Sporting KC v Real Salt Lake

Sporting KC faces off against Real salt lake in their 12th match of the season, an important one at that considering this is Sporting’s last home match of the season before they face off against Chivas Guadalajara in the leagues cup tournament. 

Through the first 45 minutes Real Salt lake started off with a bang, hitting two very close shots with one even being inches away from an opening goal before bouncing off the post. However Sporting stole the spotlight in the penalty box just minutes later when Johnny Russell made a jaw dropping pass to Daniel Salloi who scored the first goal of the match in the 30th minute. However Russell was not finished with salt lake just yet, scoring the second goal for Sporting in the 35th minute. Keeping Salt Lake goalkeeper Gavin Beavers on his toes for the rest of the match.

Second Half was underway and it did not disappoint, scoring wise. Real Salt Lake once again started off the second half the same way as the first, with a bang. Only this time they found their way behind the net, with a goal scored by Danny Musovski in the first minute of the second half. Real Salt lake already showing improvement with their offense since the first half. The same could not be said for Sporting's defense, who couldn’t stop Anderson Julio from scoring the second goal for Real Salt Lake in the 72nd minute of the match. Julio did not lose that drive to score, within the 88th minute he was inches away from his second goal of the match before getting denied by Sporting KC goalkeeper Kendall Mcintosh.


Both teams were eager to break the tie by the end of the second half. In the 90th minute Alan Pulido made a promising pass to Gadi kinda who attempted to secure the win for Sporting before being denied by goalkeeper Gavin Beavers. A game with highs and lows for both teams, Sporting were unable to keep their two goal lead. Real Salt Lake was able to catch up but wasn’t enough against the home team.
