Sporting KC v la galaxy

Article by: Levi Jungels

This past weekend, Sporting KC went head to head in just their 5th match of the young season with the historic LA Galaxy. Heading into the match, the two clubs shared the same record of 1 win, 3 draws, and zero losses. What appeared could be a very close matchup, would deliver exactly that.

On an unusually chilly night of MLS, also not having star player Johnny Russell for KC, our home Sporting got out to an impressive 2-0 lead at halftime off of not 1, but 2 corner kick opportunities. The first came very close to the goal off the left foot of Nemanja Radoja, set up at a perfect soft pace and precise ball by Daniel Sallói on the assist. Just seconds before halftime, Daniel Sallói again assisted on a goal for Sporting that soared over multiple of Galaxy's heads, this time for William Agada to deliver a strike near the center of the goal. It was both the first goals of the season for Radoja and Agada.. but the fun for KC would mostly end here. LA would explode for 3 goals in the 2nd all in the span of only 8 minutes of play. Creating great drives time and time again that KC struggled to keep pace with to defend. It was a tale of 2 halves. Domination by Sporting in the 1st, but a storm of momentum from Galaxy in the 2nd that felt impossible to stop for the tired legs of KC. Sporting visits Toronto next week in hopes to erase the bad taste of their first loss of the season.
